Available Dogs

VIENNA

Vienna is a beautiful 1 year old standard dachshund mix weighing in at 30lbs. He is a very adaptable boy who sleeps well in his crate, is leash trained, doggy door trained and gets along with other dogs. His foster says he is very affectionate and on his days at the office, he is a social boy making the rounds to give and get love. This boy would be great in a pack or as an only pup. According to his foster, he has a quiet whisper of a bark which means he would do well in an apartment. Whomever adopts this pup will be a very lucky human or family!

VINNIE

This boy is a beautiful black bundle of senior dachshund love. Vinnie is seven years old, microchipped, neutered and has all his shots. He is a gentle, quiet, and happy little boy who loves sleeping on his foster mom’s bed with his foster brother and sister. Vinnie a true dachshund who takes his backyard patrolling duties very seriously.  A true good boy who is crate-trained, house trained, doggie-door trained, and comes when called.  Vinnie has not been tested with cats or children but has not demonstrated any signs of resource guarding or aggression. Vinnie has many years left to share and would love a family to call his own.

Weenie is a 10 year old red miniature dachshund. She was picked up as a stray in ABQ. The owners were contacted with no response. This is a special little senior girl who would love a family to call her own.

WEENIE Adopted!

POPTART Adopted!

My name is Poptart. I’m about 1 yr & 4 months old. I might be small but I have a lot of energy, love to run around the yard chasing a ball and more or less bringing it back. I’m learning to walk on a leash. I do know about the doggy door, but I also go out the regular door w my 2 “roommates” on a regular basis & do my necessary business just like that! I have been w foster mom since 10/20, and have not made a mess in the den (except for that time I ate a whole bunch of doggy treats, sorry couldn’t help myself). I’m allowed to sleep on the couch @ night, and am happy to do that, w/out making a whiny fuss. I’m up to date on all vaccinations. I get along w/other dogs once I get acquainted w them, same thing goes for people I don’t know. Would like to live w/ a family [or a single person] who could give me exercise and you know, just love me.

MAISIE Adopted!

Meet Maisie! She’s a 7-year-old wire-haired dachsie, spayed, up-to-date on her shots, and is heartworm negative. She’s ready for immediate adoption. Maisie is a special-needs girl because she’s completely deaf. And a chonk. But her foster Mom has her on nutritious, low-calorie dog food, and she’s done a GREAT job getting to a healthier weight. When she came into foster, she had a difficult time with steps and walking, but now she can run and play with other dogs!

Maisie is a chonk of blue-eyed snugglebug who’s learned some very basic sign language, such as “no,” “good girl,” “M” (short for Maisie!), “hi,” etc. She’s an absolute love and does well with other dogs. She needs a work-from-home person or other at-home human, and would love other dogs with which to play and interact.

Don’t let her deafness put you off. Maisie is an alert, happy, fun little girl with a great sense of humor and fun. It’s just that you can’t tell her “no” from across the room.

How she does with cats or kids is unknown.

DAISY Adopted!

According to Daisy’s foster mom, she is a quiet well behaved little dog. She came into foster care when her owner/breeder died suddenly.

“She has instantly become a member of my pack- so she gets along great with other dogs. She is potty trained- (doggie door access ). She is gentle and quiet dachshund- extremely loving.”

Daisy is a beautiful 2 yo longhaired red and white doxie. She has been fully vaccinated, spayed, pee pad trained and is working on going potty outside.

BELLA Adopted!

This regal lady is about 9 years young. Bella just had a major dental done and lost many of her teeth, which has not slowed her down at all. She is spayed, up to date on vaccines and heart worm negative. Bella is 20 pounds and needs daily walks to help her slimming down. She was recently surrendered to us due to the owner’s health, she has been neglected but not abused. Bella is a sweetie who is house trained with supervision, loves attention and sleeps quietly through the night. She is waiting for her special person or family to make her their special princess.

ELLIE Adopted!

Meet Ellie May. Ellie is a sugar-faced, 12-year-old dachsie who needs the right person to love her through her golden years. It takes Ellie time to trust, she doesn’t liked to be picked up or even petted until she’s decided she’s ready. Ellie wants lots of love and attention, she’s just unsure who’s trustworthy. Ellie will do best in a home with maybe 1 other dog and a very patient human who can spend lots of time with her.

Ellie is on senior diet dog food to get her down to a healthier weight, but she’s extremely food motivated. She is heartworm negative and good health otherwise, though she may be developing Cushing’s disease, which isn’t uncommon in elderly dachsies.

KINQUE Adopted!

6 month old female, ~12 lbs., beautiful classic B&T girl, two white toes on left hind foot. Waiting for spaying (5-29), good teeth, micro-chipped, vax current—she’s ready to go in a week or so.  Very sweet, good with other dogs, travels well, sleeps quietly beside her human at night.  Housebroken with some supervision, i.e., taking her out first thing in the morning and several times during the day.  Comes when called by puppy, does not know her name.  End of her tail apparently closed in a door at some point, so it has a kink in it  (hence her foster name).
