Gus

ADOPTED!

Gus is a male 13lb, 1.5 year old red smooth coat miniature dachshund.

Zero

ADOPTED!

Zero is a male 13lb, 1.5 year old piebald smooth coat miniature dachshund.

Currently in foster, Zero is a 13lb 1.5 year old piebald smooth coat miniature dachshund. He is housebroken and neutered. His brother Gus is a miniature red smooth coated boy also weighing in at 13lbs. Both boys are housebroken and neutered. These boys are well behaved with their humans but cannot be placed in a home with cats. Our NMDR behavioral expert will be evaluating them to determine what type of home will be their best fit. We are also evaluating their ability to be placed separately. Their adoption fee is $625.00 each. Contact us if you are interested in learning more about these stunning boys.

Punky Boy ADOPTED!

This 1 YO handsome, sweet and intelligent young man is a chihuahua, dachshund terrier mix that we couldn’t resist taking into rescue. He is a little guy, weighing in at 11lbs (as of 10-10-24). Punky is still very much a “puppy” and would thrive, in the company of another dog. Punky came to us from Rio Rancho, brought in as a stray in mid-September. He is house trained, and quickly learned how to use the Doggy Door. He is crate trained and has graduated to hanging out with his foster siblings and sleeping on the couch when unsupervised. What a good dog! There are 2 other dogs in my house, and he has learned how to get along w/ both of them.

Punky also loves to bask in the sun indoors and on the back patio. He is very affectionate, enjoys being petted, loves ear rubs and occasional treats (doggy crackers). Punky is not a barker but he can jump over the doggy gate when he gets excited. He is leash trained and loves to go for walks which help curb some of his puppy energy.

Sara Lee ADOPTED!

Sara’s sister Rosie and mother Lulu have been adopted!

My name is Sara Lee because I’m as sweet as any dessert you’ll ever find! My mother Lulu is a dachshund x chihuahua (chiweenie). One of her puppies born in foster after we were rescued by NMDR, DNA tested dachshund x chihuahua x shih tzu x poodle. Aka super fun kids! I’m 10 months old, 18 pounds, spayed, chipped and all vaccinations UTD. Good news! I’m totally house-trained and can expertly use a doggie door! I love being outdoors and playing with my foster siblings Marco and Lollipop almost as much as I love snuggling with my foster mom! I’m pretty submissive and a little shy, but if you speak gently to me, I’ll be the best, most loving and loyal dog you could ever have. I was turned into a shelter as a stray along with my mother and two sisters, and I’m the only one left without a forever home. I love my foster family but I would really love to find a special family to call my own.

GIGI Adopted!

Gigi is a sweet and playful 1 year old rat terrier x dachshund. She is a petite 10 pounds who has a big personality. Gigi loves to play fetch and play with toys. She is house trained, uses the dog door and is learning how to walk on a leash. She gets along with and plays with her foster mom’s two chiweenies. She prefers to be the boss and would do best with another submissive dog. Gigi’s dream family would be one who takes her for daily walks and has another doggie sibling for her to play with. She is very smart and treat motivated. With some time dedicated to training she will learn very quickly.

Gigi would do best in a home with adults and children over 10 years old.

BISKET Adopted!

Bisket is a 2 ½ year old, micro-chipped and neutered male who is up to date with all his shots and has a clean bill of health.  This is one very happy dog! He is a Standard, Red Piebald Dachshund weighing in at about 20 lbs.

We have been fostering him for two weeks now, and he is very much a specimen of an active Dachshund. He is friendly around our office cat. We also have 2 Boxers, a Chihuahua, and another smaller Dachshund, who he has taken to right away.  It’s quite a sight to see him playing with the Boxers, who adore him. We also have two goats, and he loves to go down to the corral and visit with them.  No issues with them as well.

He walks well on a leash and marks every bush he can find. He runs in and out of our dog door like a champ and knows what it is for.

This young man is a people person and would do best in a forever home with a single person or family who are home a lot and want an errand/adventuring companion. Biskit is all dachshund, adopt him and he would love nothing more than to be your loyal shadow.

SARA

Sara’s foster says….”Sara is a happy go lucky dog that has so much life in her. She may have a white face and be 13 years old, but do not be fooled by this. She has as much energy as a young pup and loves nothing more than running around with her toys and playing. Sara loves walks and enjoys playing fetch, but she’s not very good at bringing it back to you so be sure to have several toys ready to throw. Sara does well with other dogs, but she needs a lot of playful attention.

Sara would be happiest as an only child or with a single dog sibling so she can get her own special attention. Before coming to the NMDR, Sara lived with the same family for 13 years until they were no longer able to care for her due to no fault of their own. Sara loves sleeping under the covers cuddling next to her human. Her new family must want to provide this for her because without her cuddle time, she would be so lonely. Sara would be best in a home with no small children. She is untested with cats so that may be negotiable.

Sara is a senior lady and will need some teeth removed. The vet says she is extremely healthy with a small heart murmur that does not yet require medication. This is something to keep an eye on but not an urgent issue. Sara is such an easy girl to love, cuddle, and play with. If you are searching for a sweet senior lap dachshund to take for walks and play with, Sara would love to find her forever home with you.”

HONEY BUNNY

Are you ready for an adventure? Then…I’m your girl! I love playing outdoors and exploring new parks with my humans and dog friends. I absolutely love playing chase and playing with toys. I need a steady supply though because scattering stuffing and squeakers gives me joy.

My first foster mom found me on the mesa, hungry and very pregnant. All my babies are now in foster care or adopted by their forever homes. Now it’s my turn! Good News…I’m spayed, all vaccinations UTD, house broken, crate trained, and doggie-door trained. I LOVE hogging my foster sister’s “doughnut” bed in front of the space heater, and I’m a pretty good watchdog, too!

I’m still a little timid from being abandoned but once I warm up to you, I’ll be the best friend and sidekick you could ever want.
