Frequently Asked Questions
How do I meet an available dog?
Contact us by phone, e-mail or on our Facebook page and we will put you in contact with the foster.
How do I re-home/surrender a dog?
Call the number on our contact page and our coordinator will arrange for a behavioral evaluation, foster family placement and transport. Under extreme emergency, if funds allow, we will board the surrendered dog until a foster is available.
How does the adoption process work?
Once you have met a dog and everyone agrees it’s a match, the foster will direct you to our adoption application and agreement. We will contact your provided references and your vet. Finally, we will conduct a home check in person or via video chat.
What does it cost to adopt a dog?
Our adoption fee is $625. This fee goes directly to helping pay for veterinary costs incurred by NMDR and also to helping us pay for the needs of dogs we otherwise would not be able to take in. Reduced adoption fees may be considered on a case by case basis.
How will you use my donation?
NMDR is an all volunteer, foster home based rescue. Over 90% of your donation goes directly to provide behavioral evaluations and vet care dogs in need. Many of the dogs coming into NMDR require dental care, spay/neuter, microchipping, vaccinations and occasionally surgery. We have a dedicated behavioralist who provides an extensive written behavioral report along with placement and training recommendations so our adopted dogs are placed with their lifetime families.
